Resort vacations are always exciting and memorable - not necessarily for good reasons though.

Location and activities (some call it experiences) are easy to figure out. Resort’s website, a quick email or a call would do the trick. Reviews and recommendations are a little tricky but no rocket science either.

In fact choosing a good brand or chain really helps in that department. Having said that, never book a resort without reading reviews. It prepares you for what to expect.

Now comes the critical part - Cost. And estimating the cost for a vacation at a resort is probably tougher than filing taxes. Because what no website tells you when you are booking a resort is the cost of food, activities, extra fees, charges on fees, taxes on charges on fees and then some more.

I call it Resort Bill Shock. It can totally destroy the fun of a vacation, especially for the person paying for it.

And why not? If you have to pay more than the night cost for 2 meals. I would be upset too.

Some smart people saw a business opportunity there and ‘All Inclusive Resorts’ were born.

What are All Inclusive Resorts?

I personally love All Inclusive Resorts. And unlike meals included rates, All Inclusive Resorts have a lot more included - for everyone.

Meals, activites, kid zones and activities, drinks, gym, pools etc etc. There’s no need to spend anything extra. Of course you can if you want to - on things like custom meals, massage therapies etc etc.

But you get the gist. You don’t have to worry about the Resort Bill Shock.

Of course, everything is included in the cost but you know the final bill before booking. And that’s more than enough.

Hyatt Ziva vs Zilara

Lot of people get confused about which resort is better - Hyatt Ziva or Hyatt Zilara. However, there is not much of a difference.

In fact both resorts are based on exactly the same concept. Only difference being that Hyatt Ziva is for families and Hyatt Zilara is for adults only (18+).

So basically I would go with whatever suits my travel plan and budget. If I am not traveling with kids, Hyatt Zilara might be a better choice, given everything else remains the same.
