Hyatt has announced some major changes to its loyalty program that came into effect from January 1st, 2024.

And you don’t have to keep your fingers crossed. This is not a devaluation. On the contrary, the majority of changes are positive and enhance the overall value of the program.

‘Guest of Honor’ is now a milestone reward. With a surprise bonus.

The ‘Guest of Honor’ award allows a member to enjoy the benefits of Globalist status without actually being a Globalist member. There are four main features of this benefit:

  1. Instead of being a benefit exclusively for Globalist members, you can now earn the ‘Guest of Honor’ award as a milestone award.
  2. With this award, you can use it for your own stays and receive all the benefits of being a Globalist member. This reward is earned after 40 nights, whereas achieving Hyatt globalist status typically requires 60 nights.
  3. If you are already a Globalist member, you also have the option to gift this award to someone else.
  4. Bonus: If you choose to gift the award to another member, you will earn one qualifying night credit towards your own tier status when your Guest of Honor completes their stay.

Milestone Rewards can now be gifted.

Hyatt now offers the ability to share your milestone rewards easily. This can be done by either transferring the award directly or by making a reservation for another member of the World of Hyatt program. You can gift an earned award through your account page on the website or app, or by contacting Guest Services via phone.

To complete the transfer, you will need to provide the recipient’s last name and their World of Hyatt member number. It is important to note that once an award has been gifted, it cannot be transferred back to your account. Additionally, transfers are final and cannot be undone or reversed.

Travel Advisors can now earn elite night credits for client bookings.

Travel Advisors can earn 2 qualifying night credits for every $5,000 USD (up to $150,000) spent on eligible room rates at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts.

To qualify, bookings must be made through Hyatt Privé or directly with Hyatt, and your IATA number and your World of Hyatt membership number must be added to the reservation.

This means that you can earn up to 60 qualifying night credits, which is enough to achieve Globalist status.

These qualifying night credits count towards earning World of Hyatt tier status and also contribute towards Milestone Rewards.

Changes for Meeting and Event Planners.

Starting in 2025, tier criteria for Meeting and Event planner will no longer be based on the number of qualifying meetings in a year

Instead, you will earn 2 qualifying night credits for every $5,000 USD (up to $150,000) in eligible spend on events each year. These credits will be awarded after full payment has been made. Note that the Meeting and Event Planners will start earning these credit from January 1st, 2024 itself.

This means that you can earn up to 60 qualifying night credits, which is enough to reach Globalist status.

These qualifying night credits will also count towards earning tier status in the World of Hyatt program and for Milestone Rewards.
