Getting elite status with Marriott has never been an easy task. So it’s kind of surprising to see a simple and straight forward status match offer from them. Even though it’s a short period trial until you stay for a certain number of nights.

How to get a status match with Marriott?
First, find out your eligibility. Whether you get matched to Gold or to Platinum depends on your current elite status level with other chains. You need to have also completed at least 1 stay with the other chain in the last 12 months.

*Since you also get IHG Platinum with InterContinental Ambassador, that should make you eligible for the status match.
You need to then apply for the status match at https://status-match.marriott.com/en-us/register by uploading your status proof and stay proof.
Once you have applied, you will receive a confirmation mail. It should take around 10 days for you to get the status match confirmation, if you are approved.
Once the match is done, your status will be upgraded to Marriott Gold or Platinum for 90 days.
Extend your status match till Feb 2022.
Once you have been upgraded for 90 days, you need to fulfil certain stay criteria to extend your status till Feb 2022.

These stays need to be completed within 90 days of your status upgrade.
However, only regular, points-earning paid nights are counted towards upgrade eligibility.
In case you are not approved for Marriott status match, you can check out several other status match promotions available as of now.
Good to know
- Nights consumed prior to registration approval are not eligible.
- Only one room per property is counted toward a member’s nights.
- Nights spent while redeeming an award are ineligible and do not count toward the promotion.
- Rooms booked through most third-party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are NOT eligible for this offer.
- Marriott Vacation Club owner-occupied weeks are not counted.
- Stays at Marriott Executive Apartments and Homes and Villas by Marriott are not counted.
- Not applicable on group bookings
