When it comes to elite status, Hilton is probably the easiest to get. Several credit cards globally offer Gold Elite status with Hilton Honors. In the US, you can even get Hilton Diamond for as long as you hold their credit card.
These statuses also come with decent benefits. e.g., Gold members get complimentary breakfast for 2, and Diamond members get lounge access.
And if you would like to get these perks, without paying for a credit card, you can always status match with Hilton.
Hilton Status Match 2024.
Hilton has finally updated their status match and challenge program for 2024. It’s a bit later than usual, though.
If you hold an elite status with Marriott, IHG, Hyatt, Best Western, or Choice, you can request for an instant gold status with Hilton Honors. Some other program may also be eligible (e.g., Accor).

Once approved, your Hilton Honors account will be upgraded to Gold for 90 days. And this is where the status match challenge comes into play.
- Gold Challenge: Stay 8 nights within the 90-day trial period, and your Gold status will be extended until March 31, 2026.
- Diamond Challenge: If you manage to stay 14 nights within those 90 days, you can fast-track to Hilton Diamond, valid until March 31, 2026.
If you have a long stay coming up, this is an excellent route to a higher elite status with Hilton for close to 2 years.
In case you are wondering, reward stays (points booking) do not count toward achieving the status match requirements.
